Vericose Vein Treatments

Varicose veins are where the valves in the veins have become damaged, stretched or missing. This restricts the body’s ability to pump blood back to the heart so the blood pools and collects in one place. Initially unsightly and ultimately leading to ulcers in the leg.

Varicose veins are swollen, twisted, and enlarged veins that you can see under the skin. They are often red or blue in colour. They usually appear in the legs, but can occur in other parts of the body.

Getting veins treated early can prevent symptoms from worsening. Other symptoms of venous insufficiency include oedema (swelling), leg heaviness, spider veins, pigmentation and ulcers.

Varicose veins can be treated with, injections (sclerotherapy), EVRF or by surgery. At Paradise Point Family Medical Centre we have the latest technology specializing in Varicose Vein removal, performed by our highly-trained doctor. We will complete an in-depth consultation with you and determine the best course of action. Our initial consultation is bulk-billed for Medicare patients; and depending on the treatment course, you could also receive a Medicare Rebate.

The types of procedures we offer are:

EVRF, also known as Endovenous RadioFreqeuncy Ablation, is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins. The EVRF procedure allows you to be walking immediately, and you can see immediate results, with minimal to no scarring.

Sclerotherapy, is the gold standard in the treatment of varicose veins and involves injecting a substance into the vein to shut down the dilated vein, allowing blood to take a more favourable channel back to the heart.

Vein Stripping, is used to remove or tie off a large vein in the leg called the superficial saphenous vein. This helps treat the larger varicose veins in the legs.

Sclerotherapy is being performed by our specialist doctor. You can book a consultation today by calling 5529 5899.
